BOOK SERIES #1: MY NEW BOOK COLLECTION
Let me first state here that I am not a lazy (or unserious) blogger. Neither do I hate writing. Let me also emphasize that this is the third blog post since I decide to resume blogging. You see, I wrote an interesting piece about a wonderful young lady and I even published it too. But, something bad happened. (Yes, I'll say it is bad because, at the moment it happened, I felt like my world was crashing down and I almost slipped into depression). You may not understand what happened or the reaction that followed but I trust writers and bloggers will.
The person I wrote about made a few corrections regarding the published post and, when I logged into my blogger account to effect the corrections, my hard thought out brain work and typed post was all gone. Search as I did for solutions/ways to retrieve my post, I found none and depressed, I went to bed.

Sitting on a bench in a primary health centre, I gazed over the village looking at the landscape, lots of thoughts (which I'm not going to share BTW) going through my head. In my back pack were five brand new hard copy books. I thought about them and I smiled. I had, recently, made a TO READ LIST consisting of certain books I would really loved to read and I made a mental note to invest in more books since I will soon be a graduate. Early this morning, the package arrived and I rushed off to school to pick it up.
There is this giddy excitement that comes with new things and new books aren't an exception. So, as I sat on that bench thinking about the goldmine in my bag and the new horizons they are going to lead me to, I smiled, pulled out the first book titled LOVE DOESN'T WIN ELECTIONS by Aisha Osori, scanned through the pages, grinned at the reviews, inhaled the smell of the book (which made me more giddy with excitement) and I smiled a broader smile.
My mind went back to when I decided to put LDWE on my To Read List. I was home for the Christmas, spending my holiday with my Uncle's family. I'm not a TV person (except for the TV series and occasional movies) but I long accepted that, while I'm okay with burying my face in a book, it's enticing smell and a new world, there are people out there who would rather stare at a screen all day.
I decided to watch the news with my Uncle and there on the screen was Aisha Osori, beautifully and decently Nigerian in her Ankara blouse, skirt and scarf (an attire which I've noticed that Nigerian women in politics or public life love to wear). She was giving an interview on her book and I waited for the title to pop up. It did and I hit the internet to find out the cost. As at January, the hard copy and the e-book price were similar and since I preferred hard copy books, I decided to wait.
While my mind was going down memory lane, my lips were still smiling and my face was still buried in the book, inhaling the smell of ink on thin brown paper.
I am so pleased with my new book collection.
1) LOVE DOESN'T WIN ELECTIONS by Aisha Osori
2) FIGHTING CORRUPTION IS DANGEROUS by Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala
3) CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE by Tomi Adeyemi
4) 29, SINGLE AND NIGERIAN by NaijaSingleGirl
5) A FATHERLESS PEOPLE by Dele Ogun
Exams start next week so I feel bad that I can't dive into the books and start reading because, well, priorities. But I'm glad that I have a post final exams adventure to look forward to in the pages of the above listed five books.
With Love,
Nubian.❤🇳🇬
